Christchurch International Airport

Christchurch Airport, through its Community Fund, is a proud supporter of Fencing New Zealand. That fund, based on small change donations from visitors through the airport terminal, supports community groups and events which add to the life of the city, and often bring people to the city.

The airport is the international gateway to the South Island, with our airline partners ensuring travellers can get anywhere in the world by leaving from here on an international flight. We are connected to the world through all the big aviation hubs to dozens of cities around the world. Year round from Christchurch, Singapore Airlines flies direct to Singapore, Emirates flies to Dubai via Sydney, Fiji Airways to direct to Nadi, several trans-Tasman flights each week with Qantas, Jetstar and Air New Zealand. During summer China Southern Airlines flies direct to Guangzhou, Cathay Pacific direct to Hong Kong, and United Airlines direct to San Francisco. Of course the domestic network delivers Kiwi back and forth across the country.

All of this means Christchurch Airport is a major driver of the South Island regional economy, with some 7000 personnel working in 250 companies on the airport campus, making it the largest site of employment in the South Island.
